Nordic Noir gives you the essence of classic swing, the driving bass, the syncopated dance rhythms and the vibrant solos, but adds a darker, poetic sensibility. Nordic Noir presents two concerts in one: Hilde Louises poetic universe and the eclectic Anders Aarum Trio with Jens Fossum on the bass and Hermund Nygård on drums.
Hilde Louise Asbjornsen: The National Jazz stage in Norway describes Hilde Louise as «The great performer known for her finely balanced humor and darkness, wit and energy”, and by the press as “two parts Monroe and one part Holiday”.
Anders Aarum: The Norwegian pianist and composer, known from numerous albums and international collaborations like Sonny Simmons and Leroy Jones, is your typical atypical Norwegian jazz musician, knowing no musical boundaries.
Hermund Nygård: One of the most popular jazz drummers in Norway, having worked with numerous artists both in Norway and internationally. He has collaborated on several occasions in the twice Grammy nominated band Sharp 9 with Staffan William-Olsson.
Jens Fossum: He studied for a master’s degree in jazz performance at the University of Miami. Back home he has contributed on several Grammy nominated jazz recordings and bandconstellations, recently with Georg “Jojje” Wadenius in WOW.
